I am no cosmetologist but I started a small venture with Dr. Kan and Daniella, a retail comstics located inside the crossroads pharmacy nungua barrier opposite the Junction Mall.
I have never been a make-up fan but I do admire the creative art; transforming one’s face into a more refined one. But hey there is no crime in wanting to look glamorous every now and then.
With all the MUA’s flooding the internet it gets a little overwhelming when you are a novice in the art. You are faced with questions like; which brand should I use?, Where can I get authentic products to buy from? Is this the right shade for me? Which products do I need… and so on. These are all questions that come to mind when shopping for make-up.
I just want the basics, something that looks cute but light. The fact is that the sun scorches 90% of the time would make it uncomfortable anyway. There are some basic make-up you can’t do without even if you put it on once in a blue moon.
You don’t need to own a million different options, but even a few helpful tools can help you make the most of your makeup.
1.You need the spoolie brushes for a more organized and full eyebrow and angled brush to smooth and define your brows with powder.
2.Foundation brush to give you a smooth and poreless finish.
3.A concealer brush to hide all your spots. The best brush for the job is one with a tapered head and bristles that are both firm and flexible for extra precision.
4. Take it from Kim K a fluffy contouring brush is your best bet for highlighting and sharpening your features.
5. You also need a dusting brush it is a must- have for dusting eyeshadow along the crease of your lids.
6.The powder brush is a makeup bag staple. It helps you set your face with powder after you’ve applied foundation and sweeps away extra makeup without messing with your carefully crafted beauty look.
Final the lip brush once you get a hang of it you won’t use lipstick from the tube again.
As my friend, Daniella would say there is no rule to make up; you just go with the flow. I am pretty sure you are wondering where to get good and affordable brushes? I recommend the color box brush set first. I think it is super cool to have a makeup cosmetics brand in Ghana that serves the Ghanaian market with taste and style.
Get one foundation that looks like your skin color or a little darker; use this for your face. I use the black opal matte finish foundation, with the Revlon photo-ready airbrush make-up effect.
Other foundations like Maybeline Fit me and Super Stay which gives you a matte effect and last for 24 hr. Don’t look far because you can get these and more at our shop.
They say your eyes are the windows to your soul. Adding mascara to your daily look is all you need to make your eyes pop.
With a lot of mascaras in the market it gets tiresome choosing one that works for you. My personal favorite is The Super Sizer from Covergirl. It gives you a bold, corner to corner volume for full, fanned out lashes. It’s unique lash styler twirls as you apply the mascara to your lash giving you up to 400% volume.
My second favorite is the Maybelline Volum’express also known as the big eyes. It’s the first eye-opening dual brush mascara; triple black pigments are loaded on to your lashes with the BIG volume brush. Its micro-perfecting brush amplifies every lash. The results wide eye wow, with total black effect. No flaking, no clamping no smearing.
What I like about the Great lash by Maybelline is that its formula is enriched with shea butter which naturally builds volume, guaranteed no artificial waxes and it removes easily .

To add more drama to my eyes I simply use a pencil.
Looking so fabulous, you can’t leave home without applying lipstick or lip gloss. It is the cherry on top. What is important is that the color lasts long on my lips for as long as you want. It is worthless applying lipstick only to have it rubbed off by food intake.
These are some lipsticks I tried and quite frankly lived up to my expectations.
The Colorsensational Vivids from Maybelline
